Daniel Blanco Pantoja (1983) is a self-taught illustrator, writer, and editor. He has illustrated several books by different authors, among which there’s a notable collaboration with Mario Bellatin in La mirada del pájaro más transparente (The Gaze of the most transparent Bird, Pehuén, 2011). In 2016, along with the writer Jairo Buitrago, Daniel published Un diamante al fondo de la tierra (A Diamond at the Depths of the Earth, Amanuta), the only Chilean book to make it that year into the prestigious White Ravens list. The book also awarded Daniel with an Ibby International, in the 2017 Best Illustrator category. In addition to these collaborations, Daniel has also published a book written and illustrated on his own: Animal (Erdosain Ediciones, 2014).
A few years ago, Daniel formed Erdosain Press, a publishing house devoted to beautifully curated books. Among the titles of its catalogue, stands out an edition of Juguete rabioso (Mad Toy), written by the late Roberto Arlt, and illustrated
impressively by the Argentinean Luis Scafati. You can find out more about this project at
